Pro-Active Discipline Plan 2008-2009 Draft

For information about the proposed Pro-Active Discipline Plan for the upcoming school year, click here.

The visual art exhibition "Art Inspires" which was held at the K.C. Wright Building was absolutely amazing.

As a community, Broward County came together to provide a high leveled artistic experience for our young artists. Attending the exhibition were our exhibiting artists Taina Diaz and Vincent Sacco. HAAS/CSUSA faculty (Mrs. Fine & Mrs. Sacco) and administrators (Ms. Fulton and Mrs. Rodriguez) came to view and support our HAAS family. At the event which continued at the auditorium, we were welcomed by Marla Armstrong (BCPS Visual Art Curriculum Specialist) and James Notter (BCPS Superintendent of Schools) and of course our own Leslie Brown (BCPS Exec. Director of Educational Programs).

We are proud of the continued support of the visual arts by Charter Schools USA (CSUSA), our own Hollywood Academy of Art & Science (HAAS) staff and administrators, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), Art & Cultural Center of Hollywood, Beacon and artist Britto Romero.

Student artwork will be on display in the K.C. Wright Administration Center Prefunction Room March 6th – March 19th

What is a Charter School?

Charter schools are part of a sweeping educational reform that places the highest priority on providing a better education. Charter schools are tuition free and are funded much like a public school, but each charter school is governed privately. Private governance places accountability squarely on the shoulders of the entity running the schools. Every dollar spent through the charter school system is focused on furthering each student’s education. Unlike traditional public schools, charter schools must demonstrate success, or they will lose their charter. Charter schools can be managed by municipalities, private companies or individuals.

Hollywood Academy of Arts and Science is a member of the Charter Schools USA family of schools. Charter Schools USA is one of the largest providers of charter school management services in the state of Florida. CSUSA manages private and municipal charters for grades Pre-K through 12.
