Middle School Vists Everglades National Park
The middle school HAAS art students have been working very hard this semester on the art of photography. This began with the introduction to our prestigious local artist/environmental photographer, Clyde Butcher and his predecessor Ansell Adams through a Power Point presentation. The presentation goes on to introduce an appreciation for the Florida Everglades and it's habitat. This is all leading to a dynamic photo-shoot at the Florida Everglades - Anhinga Trails. After their photo-shoot, students will also incorporate their photos with the technology of photo manipulations with Adobe Elements. The students are to provide a message of understanding as an environmentalist and as an artist to introduce the beauty of our natural habitat through their understanding of composition, lighting, technique, style and movement. Their photos will be on exhibition with the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood - ArtsPark, and students will donate selected photos to be placed in the permanent exhibition at the Ranger Station &/or Charter Schools USA.
This program is presented as an interdisciplinary study with science as an appreciation and understanding of the Florida Everglades. The art department will also support the visual effects and visual designs necessary to for self expression and support of our Florida's natural resources and wildlife. Students are equally writing about their research and findings in their photographer's log of their adventures as Artists/Environmentalists through the Florida Everglades. Many of the FCAT standards will be met with this project.
