HAAS students used collaborative efforts this week to recreate Christopher Columbus’ journeys to America. Students in Ms. Godio’s Spanish classes made posters incorporating facts, Spanish vocabulary, and tracked the voyage the boats took from Spain to America. In Ms. Ferreira’s science lab , students created 3 dimensional boat models representing the Columbus ships: La Santa Maria, La Niña, and La Pinta. Students studied models, sketched blueprints, and measured the models to scale. Students used toothpicks and molding clay to construct the boats and set sail traveling the high seas. Students were passionately involved in recreating the journeys and took integrity in showing off their work.
